I have been racing and collecting HO scale slot cars since the 1960's, when I purchased my first Aurora Model Motoring set as a young boy. The Ford GT-40 and Lola GT that came with that original Aurora Model Motoring set are long gone now, but my love for the hobby continues to this day.

About fifteen years ago I decided to build a dedicated 4-lane HO slot car track, a complete landscaped layout with pit lanes and a large paddock area to display my growing collection of slot cars. Since then I have built several other racing circuits and continue to add to my collection of HO scale race cars.

This web site is an ongoing project of mine. New sections that focus on HO Slot Car Racing, Collecting, Restoration and Track Layout Design will be added over the upcoming months. If you have suggestions for additional content please feel free to contact me.

Auto World's sixth release of X-Traction slot cars are now in stock. These cars use the new X-Traction Ultra-G chassis. An Ultra-G chassis includes a small removable Neodymium button magnet at the rear of the chassis for added downforce and better handling performance.

New Shelby Cobra 427 S/C Bodies for Aurora ThunderJet chassis as well as Johnny Lightning and Auto World reproductions are now available.

These high-quality injection molded ABS plastic bodies are available in twelve different color schemes. They come fully assembled and painted. Chrome plated bumpers, side pipes and a roll bar make these the nicest T-Jet bodies ever made.

Tomy AFX is designing an all-new chassis for release late this summer. This is the first new Tomy chassis design in over 10 years! The new chassis is narrower, lower and faster than anything Tomy has done to-date.

With an overall chassis width of just over 0.700" the new Tomy AFX Mega G chassis will allow Tomy to produce much more accurate open wheel body shells, and the lower motor mounting will allow open cockpit cars such as Le Mans Prototypes and vintage roadsters.

This new Mega G chassis will provide a high-performance platform for many exciting new products from Tomy AFX in the years to come. The photograph below shows the new Tomy AFX Mega G chassis next to the current Super G+Plus.

Note the narrower profile of the Mega G chassis compared to the Super G+Plus, along with a simplified motor brush configuration and light-weight bulkheads and bearing carriers.

The new Mega G chassis weighs nearly 25% less than the current Super G+Plus. And when combined with the lower center of gravity, due to the low-slung motor positioning, promises to offer a very quick and good handling chassis.

The pictures above are of the preliminary test prototype. The final chassis moldings will be much crisper. The production chassis will sport BBS ChampCar wheels initially, with other styles to follow. The rear hubs will be smooth with only an inside rear flange. This new rear wheel construction will allow slip-on silicone tires to be fitted without first replacing the hubs, as is the case with the current Super G+Plus.

The chassis' roll center has been greatly reduced for better handling, and will open up all kinds of possibilities for realistic modern and vintage racecars. Polymer motor magnets and a pair of adjustable Neodymium traction magnets round out the power and handling package.

The Neodymium traction magnets can also be removed, or replaced with machined brass dead weights for old-school sliding and drifting action.

The first new body style to be released this fall will be the Dallara Champ Car chassis currently being raced by all of the Champ Car teams.

From here on out all new Tomy slot cars will sport ultra-detailed body shells, much like what was done this last Christmas with the Ford GT40 racers that were so successful.

Modern race cars have gotten wider and longer over the years. They have also become much lower. The new Tomy AFX Mega G chassis will be better suited to the new larger race cars appearing on racetracks here and in Europe.

In order to accommodate the longer wheelbase of modern cars Tomy has increased the wheelbase of their new Mega G chassis from 1.625" to 1.7". This slight additional length will make open wheeled Formula 1 and Indy Cars much easier to model accurately. It will also make it possible to do a properly proportioned LMP-style body in the future.

The Tomy AFX SG+ chassis has front axle positions in the chassis to adjust the wheelbase at 1.625" for open-wheeled F1/IndyCars, and if the axle is moved back closer to the motor, a 1.5" wheelbase for current GT-style body shells.

The new Mega G chassis will be released initially with the slightly longer 1.7" wheelbase and the Dallara ChampCar body seen above. Shortly after, a shorter 1.5" wheelbase version will be released with a GT Body Clip similar to what is currently used on the SG+ chassis.

Like the Tomy AFX Turbo and SRT chassis which are produced in two distinct versions, i.e. SWB and LWB, the new Mega G chassis will be also available in both short and long wheelbase versions.

The new Tomy AFX Mega G chassis will provide the ideal platform for what Tomy plans to do in the next several years. Tomy's ideal is to produce HO scale slot cars that are every bit as detailed as their larger 1:32 scale cousins. The Ford GT40 models released just before Christmas are only the beginning, and the Mega G chassis will make all kinds of new and interesting slot cars possible.

New Tomy AFX Ford GT40 models are scheduled for release later this summer. Tomy has improved upon the original body by adding a detailed interior, and clear windows.

Two new models will be available; the Dark Blue No. 6 driven by Mario Andretti and a Yellow No. 8 driven by Alan Mann.

A new Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe will also have clear windows and detailed interiors, along with a new Chaparral 2D Coupe, also with an interior and clear glass

Watch for these cars to be released at the same time as the new Mega G Champ Cars.

New Champ Cars based the Mega G chassis will be available is fall. The photos shown below are resin test shots. The actual production cars and paint schemes will be much "crisper" than the what's seen here.

Paul Tracy's Forsythe Dallara in 2008 livery will be one of the first new Mega G based Champ Cars out this Fall.

The Red Bull Champ Car as run in early 2008 will also be available on the new Mega G chassis this Fall.

Will Power's Aussie Vineyards Champ Car is yet another new Mega G offering for this Fall.

The OzJet livery rounds out the four new Mega G Dallara Champs cars due out this Fall.

The fifth new Champ Car livery, McDonalds No. 1, will be a "Set Only" car included in a new boxed race set.

Auto World's new Super III chassis is now available. The first release includes several Ford Mustangs as well as late model stock cars from Chevy, Ford and Dodge.

This is an all-new modern in-line chassis with adjustable neodymium traction magnets. Auto World has opted for unique body mounting points, so these bodies will not fit Aurora, Tomy or Auto World XTraction chassis, nor can existing Aurora, Tomy or Auto World bodies be fitted to the Super III chassis.

Tomy has also re-released their Dual 15" Power Track. These power terminal tracks allow two (2) power packs to be plugged into a single terminal track for true independently powered lanes, no more power robbing or surges when your opponent in the lane next to you de-slots.

These Dual 15" Power Tracks also make it possible now to hook up Parma hand controls with 3-wire brakes! With the success of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes and Chaparral 2D Coupes, Tomy is continuing to add vintage race cars to its popular SRT Collectors series. The next new body style will be the awesome Ford GT40 that ran at Le Mans in the 1960's. Four different color schemes will be released in early October 2007 including the Bruce McLaren Le Mans winner shown below.

Tomy AFX chose the Ford GT40 for its next SRT Collectors Series release because of the large number of cars that were built and raced both here an in Europe in the 1960s. Tomy representatives have assured me that many more colors and liveries will be made available after the initial 4-car release this fall.

Tomy intends to manufacture all of the new body styles in the future to much higher standards of detail than they have in the past. Lloyd Ashbury was contracted to sculpt the new Ford GT40. Lloyd has been a master model maker since the 1960's. His work has no equal in the industry. That Tomy has secured his services bodes well for their plans for the future.

The new AFX Tomy Chaparral 2D Coupes have finally arrived! The initial run of only 1000 of each model are going fast.

The first in the series is the No. 7 car driven to victory in the 1966 1000 Km of Nurburgring by Phil Hill and Jo Bonnier. The No. 9 car was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for 1966. Phil Hill and Jo Bonnier were again teamed up to drive, but the car failed to finish the race due to a failed generator in the 8th hour.
